Interesting observation: at the Oakland Mall in my hometown, the D.O.C. Eyeworld is located directly next to Blinds to Go.
Well, I'm kinda disappointed. The supposed speed increase of OS X 10.1 on my G3 is noticeable, but not significant. It feels like they focused their optimization on the G4, and left me behind. Oh well... I'm using OS X a lot more now, so thanks Apple for increasing the usability!

I'm running Mac OS X 10.1! Details to follow.

Did you watch the premiere of Enterprise? I did, and it ROCKS! I love the new Vulcan babe, and I hope she needs to rub antibacterial goo on herself in each and every episode. The ship is well-designed, the crew is amusing, and I love that new Enterprise font. This show's going to be so much better than ST: Voyager.

I'm going to blame all my problems on the heady effects of RU-486.

I got my very first kernel panic today! I had just put a fresh new installation of Mac OS X on my machine, and was attempting to boot into it for the first time... OS X gave me the standard startup messages, then filled my screen with hexadecimal numbers and "unresolved trap" messages. I am now a man.

Jeff: I want a nice, pretty, intelligent woman.

I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired.

On Monday, I finally went to the doctor because I wasn't getting any better. I'm now taking heavy-duty antibiotics to take care of my strep infection. This is the third day I've taken off of school, by the way, and I'm hoping that I get to go back so that I don't get too far behind.

This morning, my fever was 101.9. I guess I get my wish, because I'm not going to school today.

On Friday morning, I noticed I had a severely swollen lymph node. By Friday night, I was on the couch with a 101 fever. This is two weekends in a row where I've been extremely sick, yet I haven't had to miss any school. (Shucks.)

I thought we had enough hate-filled motherfuckers in the world, but then Falwell and Robertson go and take it one step further.

"Let's say we have to make some 'show of force'. The most common scenarios involve small guerrilla or terrorist groups. Nuclear retaliation? It has been suggested by others that Aerosol Pork Grenades would be a better deterrent -- Islamic martyrs are denied entrance to heaven if they show up at the gate smelling like a pig. Denial of The Big Payoff removes a certain cachet from acts of voluntary self-destruction." --Frank Zappa, The Real Frank Zappa Book, 1989

Holy shit. You always feel safe until something horrible happens....

My wristwatch died this weekend. Pretty dull news, except that it was a Christmas gift from my ex-girlfriend. Since I really don't ever want to speak to her again due to unfortunate circumstances, I can finally eliminate the last remaining vestige of our relationship. It's time to let go, after all. (No pun intended.) My new watch is much snazzier and doesn't have that annoying velcro that never stuck correctly.
Aaah.... feeling much better after that cold. Of course, it had to happen during the weekend, but life's like that. Ben Folds and TMBG both have new albums coming out tomorrow, so that will most definitely make my day.

After the first week of school, the only things I have to show are some killer credit-card receipts from the bookstore and a cold. (sniffle)

If you didn't see the VMAs last night, then good for you! You didn't miss anything of value, and can safely avoid all the reruns. Perhaps the most distressing part was when N*SYNC did their lip-synching musically-dubious dance number, then trotted out Michael Jackson for a couple of seconds to do a little dance. Michael Jackson's appearance was meaningless and contrived, and I think he should be doing bigger and better things than appearing next to boy-band shitterati.

Lane sounds like she liked the care package, and I'm happy about that. Stu, you'd better get your hiney over there before the novelty wears off!

ALERT! Before you go out to dinner at the newly-built Mongolian Barbeque in Sterling Heights, be warned:
I know what I'm spending my next chunk of disposable income on. :)
I think the deepest thoughts are most often the simplest ones.

You can now stalk me just like you can stalk Teddy... here is my fall schedule.
I'm finding that one of the books I find most enjoyable as leisure reading, is also one of the most unlikely -- Bartlett's Familiar Quotations. Here's a couple of interesting things I found today.

Phew! Sarah just signed on again, and now I have the number. My heart, coincidentally, just started beating again.
Adding to the loneliness of today, we have this pathetic situation caused by me -- I met a girl on Nerve.com personals, talked to her on IM, and she asked me to call her so she could give me the address to a party she was having. I assumed I had instant messenger logging on, like I usually do, so that I could look back at the conversation and pull up the number, so I closed the window. Logging was not on, so now I can't call.
If I had an emoticon status, right now it would be lonely. Today is a lonely day.
