Snow Day!

I got my first subpoena today, involving a case related to the car crash I was in. I'm neither the plaintiff nor the defendant -- I'm just testiftying. I hope it doesn't take long, because the Rufus concert is on the same date as my court date.

Detroit has Motown, Royal Oak has Home Improvement, Sterling Heights/Warren has Eminem, and my hometown of Troy has.... the largest bankruptcy in retail history. How exciting.

If you have not yet seen The Royal Tenenbaums, stop reading this blog, drive straight to the Main Art Theatre, pay $8, and watch it. It is extraordinary.

I purchased the book Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X so that I can get to work on a number of projects I've had floating in my head. I also downloaded the December Developer Tools so I can read about and play with "AppleScript Studio". As I found out, there is no single application called AppleScript Studio, but rather, Apple updated Project Builder, Interface Builder, and the AppleScript frameworks to all work with each other. It's really very nifty. It reminds me a lot of HyperCard, because to develop a stack, you created the user interface (accomplished in OS X through Interface Builder) and then dictated how to deal with events (done now in Project Builder). All you HyperCard-for-OS-X-petitioners, call it off, because this is Apple's response -- and it's a lot more flexible.

My heart is skipping beats just thinking about all the announcements that are coming on Monday from MacWorld Expo. The computer geek in me (isn't that most of me?) wishes I was in San Francisco to hear the keynote. Damn you college!

What is it about me that makes women tell me they'll call, but in fact not call?

Happy New Year! Good luck remembering to write "02" instead of "01"!
